9 month check-up.

Bailey had her 9 month well-baby appointment today. When we got there, Bailey and I had to make a stop in the bathroom. Of course, she'd decided to have a stinky diaper when we go somewhere.  Derek filled out her paperwork, then we had to take the stupid class with other mom's. Bailey decided to start clapping today! She mainly does it when Daddy plays Pat-a-cake with her. They've been practicing it for a few weeks now.

We got through the class and Bailey got measured. She weighs 15 lbs 3 ozs and is 26 inches tall. She's getting so big. We then were put into a room to wait for Bailey's doctor. It felt like we were waiting for hours. She finally came in and checked Bailey's progress. She said Bailey is ahead of the game. :) The doctor kept saying how beautiful Bailey's eyes are and was completely in awe over her. Then she charted her growth. Bailey is growing at a great rate and is very proportioned. Yes, Bailey is perfect! She also told Derek and I that we're doing a great job. I'd like to think we are. Then she asked if Bailey likes puffs. (Her baby snacks) and she does. Then she said she has some cheese puffs for Bailey. Derek and I later decided that the Doctor just really liked Bailey and gave her something from her lunch. LOL. Before we left, I made Derek take some of the flavored tongue depressors. Haha.

Anyways, we left and went to the post office. We were going to go to the bank to replace my card but I didn't feel like it. We drove past Subway but it was already insanely packed. So we went to the food court inside the PX and ate lunch there. We came home and put Bailey down for a nap. She was exhausted. Derek went back to work and I pretty much did nothing for the rest of the day.

I made Crunchy Baked Chicken for dinner, baked potatoes and pasta. I tried feeding Bailey some baked potato but she isn't ready for that yet. So she ate some of my pasta and had her chicken and sweet potato puree.

That was my day.

Great weekend. :)

Derek and I had a good weekend. Bailey seemed to have a decent weekend. Bowtie hasn't been that happy of a camper.

On Friday we brought home the newest addition to our family — Colby. She's an orange cat. She has a cute personality and meows a lot. I'll admit, at first, I didn't like her. I started really disliking her when she peed on her blanket and pooped on the floor then pooped in her house. It was quite irritating, since her box was right next to her. We decided to put her litter box into her house (which kind of sucks, but whatever works, right??) well tonight, she decided to poop and pee in her litter box!

Colby also, really REALLY likes Derek. I wish she liked me as much as she loves him. Which is another reason I disliked her. But yesterday and today she's been warming up to me a lot more, so I consider her ours now. Plus, Derek likes her so we can't just up and give her away now.

Just a random side note but I broke my debit card this weekend. I was stabbing Derek with it and it cracked. So I will have to go get a new one which sucks!!

Yesterday, Bailey took a few steps!! It was amazing and made me sad that she is trying to walk. She can stand on her own now for a few minutes. Before we know it, Bailey is going to be walking and talking! I love that little girl!

Anyways... Today, Holly came over. We went and got smoothies then went to lunch and did shopping and such. Then we came back home and played a video game. I made Derek buy me a sweet wine... which I hate. I'm dying for a sweet dessert wine and I have a hard time it'll take forever before I find one.

Holly left and Derek and I started watching Big Bang Theory. Then we did the usual routine— feed, bathe and put Bailey to bed. Tomorrow is Monday, which is going to be a nothing day. I will probably do laundry. Tuesday morning, Bailey has her 9 month checkup!!! YAY.

Colby C.

Well, we got a cat today. It was really impulsive LOL. Derek came home from lunch and I showed him a picture of a cat then we picked it up after work.

The cat is a female. Her name is Colby C. Wilcox. She's six weeks old and was born on Friday, May 13th, 2011. Anyways.

I went to Starbucks today to meet with Holly's FRG leader to get her Scentsy order. Then I picked up my husband and we went to get our kitty. We weren't sure what we going to name her for a while and then Derek suggested we name her Colby (as in Colby Jack Cheese) then we came home and made dinner. then went to Wal-Mart and bought kitty-things. Bowtie seems to like her. Which I'm thankful and glad about.

Facts of Life (with Bailey) ;)

Fact #1: (TMI WARNING) Before I became a Mom, I didn't realize that I'd get so excited over seeing poop.
Bailey has problems going potty. We've been giving her prunes lately and I think they're finally kicking in and she's getting some "relief."

Fact #2: I love love love waking up in the morning. I love walking into my daughter's room and seeing her huge gummy smile. Getting out of bed and walking to her room I'm usually dreading the day because of how early she is up.. But once I open the door and see her smile and face, I don't care what time it is.

Fact #3: Bailey's nap time is IMPORTANT. I get some "me-time", get to catch up on what I have recorded on the DVR, and get to clean something.

Fact #4: There is nothing better than seeing Daddy & Baby together. Don't take this for granted. (For my civilian friends) Can you imagine having your husband gone for the birth of your child? No? How about the first seven months of his or her life? I didn't think so. Unfortunately for Derek, he had to miss all of that. Yeah, it was a big deal. He missed some first holidays, the first time she smiled and a bunch of things in between. I know we've done some adjusting since he's been home and we have had some up and down moments but at the end of the day there is nothing and I mean NOTHING better than seeing my husband kiss our daughter goodnight.

Fact #5: Say goodbye to watching whatever you want on TV... whenever you want to watch it. There is this show on Nick Jr called "Jack's Big Music Show" and it only had two seasons (a total of 26 episodes) which happens to be Bailey's favorite TV show. Guess what we watch daily? JBMS. And since there are only 26 episodes, Derek and I are constantly watching the same ones over and over again. It's annoying but since Bailey loves it, guess what? We're watching it.

Fact #6: Bailey loves cuddling with something soft at night / nap times / when we're traveling. She has a bunny (and an elephant) security blanket AND Scentsy Buddies Lenny (the lamb) and Penny (the pig). We seriously take either the bunny or Lenny with us EVERYWHERE. We will not be caught without one or the other. And every night before bed, her bunny has to be with her, or she won't sleep. (See picture below.)

See? She has all four of her "security" items with her here.

Fact #7: Every new milestone is both exciting and heartbreaking to me. This morning (22 June 2011), Bailey fed herself cheese puffs. I was cheering her on and pretty sad. She's getting to be so "independent" (or as independent as a baby can be.)  My baby is turning 9 months old this weekend.

Fact #8: Something I really love? Little toesies....... Need I say more??? :)

Fact #9: Even the biggest livingroom.... will suddenly get a lot smaller with baby toys. I'm SO glad we have a different house than when I was pregnant. Our living room was tiny in our previous house. In the new one, it's not huge but it's big enough for two couches, a TV, end tables, a Pack N Play, a high chair AND a jumper. At the end of the night when we clean up before bed... our living room feels so big when we've put everything away.

Fact #10 (& the last one for now): Bailey brought Derek and I so much closer together. Every night before we crawl into bed for the night, we walk into Bailey's room to cover her up and check on her... and sometimes we stand there for a minute just looking at her. I love feeling his arms wrapped around me while we look down at our Sleeping Beauty.

This is all for now.

XOXO

Father's Day — Pt. 2

Father's Day:

Derek's first father's day wasn't too bad. :) After we woke up, we went to Waffle House. Derek's been trying to get me to go there since we moved here, basically. It wasn't that bad. It might be something we eat more... maybe. After we finished breakfast we went home and relaxed. I fell asleep a few times. I don't know why but on weekends I feel so exhausted. Anyways. The weather was crappy, too. It was raining and grey and yucky. Bailey was pretty cranky by dinner time, so we got Applebees to go. We came home and ate our Applebees. Afterward we basically just relaxed some more. Unfortunately, Derek's Father's Day gift didn't get here in time... I personalized it and I really think it got lost in the mail. It originated from Memphis, TN... then went to Cincinnati, OH.. Then back here. It was weird and didn't make sense.

Monday:
I used the car today to take a friend to pick up her car from a dealership. On the way there we saw a fire. I don't know what was on fire but when we got to the dealership we saw firetrucks racing over there. Bailey and her daughter were talking to each other. It was pretty cute. I helped Michelle put Kailyn's carseat in her car then I went to the store to buy Bailey some babyfood. I ended up buying an apple pie, baby food and a DVD. Derek told me he was ready to be picked up so I ran home to see if his picture frame was delivered and it was. I put a picture in it, then put that and the DVD I bought in a bag and went to get him. We came home and he opened his Father's Day gifts. After all that excitement, we worked out. We did Insanity. His back hurts and my everything hurts. I officially hate Insanity. We spent the rest of the night relaxing and watching Monday Night Raw.

Father's Day

The three of us had a really good weekend.  Yesterday we ended up going to Dunbar Cave again and going on a 2 mile hike. It was SOOOO much better this time around since I wasn't pushing the stroller.

Today was Father's Day. I, again, want to wish my husband and the best Daddy in the world a Happy Father's Day. I ordered him a personalized picture frame a few days ago but it still hasn't got here. I was really upset that it didn't get here in time, so I hope it's here tomorrow for him. We went to breakfast at the Waffle House.  Derek had to convince me to go there so, for Father's Day, I allowed it. It actually wasn't too bad. I just might allow us to go a 2nd time someday.

We pretty much spent our day lounging around the house. We watched a movie and relaxed. I napped a little. Then around dinner time we got Applebees car side thing... We came home and ate our dinner, fed Bailey, bathed her, put her in bed and now we're relaxing.  Bailey seems to be having a hard time falling asleep tonight so this will be fun. :-)

Busy Day

Bailey and I had a good day today.  I had to keep the car today so I could go to the post office.  Around 1, Bailey took a nap, then she didn't get up until 3:30. So Bailey and I went to the post office and sent out a bunch of things. I was there for forever. Then I went back on post to pick Derek up. I waited for awhile then he told me to go home and do what I needed to. I came back and he still wasn't done. So we waited some more. He finally came out and we all went to Wal-Mart. We weren't in there for too long. We went home and I made a quick dinner while Derek fed Bailey her dinner. We ate, then put Bailey in the tub. She loves splashing around in the water. We dressed her then put her in bed. Another successful day of parenting for Derek and I.

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

Today was a pretty good day in the Wilcox household.  I got a lot done but I had so much more to do. It was payday so it was menu planning day. I got some Scentsy stuff together and I'm going to keep the car in the afternoon so I can meet up with a friend and deliver her "goods" and go to the post office to ship out samples and boxes tomorrow.

We went to Krogers today. Grocery shopping is always fun. Not. I really hate going out and interacting with people. LOL. But we went to Zaxby's before going to the grocery store and it was pretty good. It was our first time going there and it might become somewhere we go more often.

We got home, unloaded all the groceries, then fed Bailey, bathed her and put that girl to bed. She was tired. She went down without a fight. Derek and I spent the rest of our evening cuddling and watching season 1 of Still Standing. Now we're heading to bed. :-)

XOXO.

New Update

I haven't updated in a while. Bailey is crawling around like crazy now. It's insane how fast she picked it up. I had her playing around on the floor today and she took off to the back door and stood up like she was trying to escape.

Over the weekend, Derek and I went around looking at camping gear. We'll probably go camping sometime this year. I'm slightly excited, slightly terrified. I've seen waaay to many horror movies to know that camping never ends well, haha!

Tomorrow will be another nothingness day for me. I will probably work out on the elliptical. I have to lose weight to prepare my body for Baby Wilcox #2....... It's a joke. But I do have to lose weight. I have about 40 lbs to lose. I have to set a goal and I think I'm going to work on what that goal is tomorrow. I might look for some healthy recipes since tomorrow is grocery shopping day.  I'm sick of hearing people who are tiny complain about their weight so it's time for a major change.

Finally.

Today was a pretty good day. We saw Holly for the first time in a while. We had fun. Bailey was a crab apple today but is sleeping pretty good right now, thankfully. Now Derek and I are playing a game together and will probably stay up late tonight. Maybe.

Dunbar Cave

The four of us had a really fun/tiring day today. Until about 2pm, we were sitting around doing nothing. Then Derek said that we were going to go somewhere and he wouldn't tell me where. I finally convinced him and he said that we were going to go to Dunbar Cave. It's a Tennessee National Park. The caves are closed but we can still go toward them... Just not inside. I think it would have been neat to go inside. Annyyyywaaaysss.... We decided to go hiking.

Rule #1 I learned today? Don't go hiking with a stroller. It was a bad idea. The hike wouldn't have been so bad if we didn't have Bailey's stroller. Bowtie had a good time, too... Only because SHE was the one in Bailey's stroller. Well we hiked over a mile. We had a lot of fun. I think we might do it again more often.

After that, we went and stood by the cave. There was a lot of cold air coming out of it, so I really wanted to take my shirt off. I was sweaty. LOL! Of course, I decided to stay clothed.

We got in our car and started driving home but I saw the place I thought Holly worked, then I saw her car so we turned around and stopped in. She seemed really happy to see us... But I think she was mostly happy to see Bailey. We left, went home and since then we've put Bailey to bed and will be making dinner here shortly. All in all, it was a good day. I love spending time with my loves.
